Other points of interest include, but are not limited to: the Ideon Cave located on the slopes of Mt. Ida (birthplace of Zeus) Phaestos, the Palace of Malia, Moni Arkadiou and the Venetian Harbor.

Airports in Crete

Most flights to Crete land at Heraklion International Airport (HER). It is the primary airport on the island and Greece's second businest airport following Athens International Airport. Upon arrival, you will have multiple options for reaching the city center. There are regular buses between Heraklion airport and the city center (Eleftherias square). It is advised that tickets be purchased before boarding. Alternatively you may also take a taxi into town.
